Ok,ok.received the edp today.Blind buy, naturally. So I'd say it's by no means a "safe" fragrance. Beautiful bottle, looks great with the right lighting around it. I adore Spicebomb, and this definitely reminds me of that, but my husband also detected some Cowboy Grass in it, which is also another love for me. EDT or EDP? The overall impression oddly is of a cappaccino. It smells good, just not for me. I also get some other (peppery) spices but can't exactly detect them as they're not distinct enough. I keep going back to my wrist for more, it's delightful. The floor carpeted with dead fallen pine leaves that feel cushy underfoot. Equus is no different. the citrus evaporates quickly to the aforementioned woods and spices that create a very addictive sillage that makes me continuously sniff my wrist. This is a fantastic classy woody, herbal scent which works exceptionally well in the cooler months. Like a love you know is wrong for you but you just can't resist her soft violet touch. It is Two Towers to White's Return of the King. They have captured that unique slightly sweet wood perfectly, with a softer fade to it over time. The overall effect of the opening brings to my mind of indian chai tea (not the Starbucks one) without ginger and sour cream. I found a miniature of this perfume, grab it. The pepper in this smells so freshly ground(I love pepper as a note). It's one of those unusual fragrances that you never smell anything like it before. The conclusion is everybody's skin is different with parfumes. I gave the bottle (which is really nice and heavy) to a coworker, since she liked the scent and could see herself wearing it. A homerun from Lalique, typical solid quality considering the price. I just obtained the EDP of thiskinda love it alreadyit really does smell like a pet storebut that doesn't seem to matter, LOL. Love it! I only have one bottle and i will have to purchase one moreor i will have to save it with a lot of affection!Lalique made a really well done job. Back at the lodge, you have all the creature comforts of a luxury hotel. Not in your face, just classy. Better suited to cooler weather in fall/winter. This smells EXACTLY like Karl Lagerfeld Bois de Vetiver, but a tad less sweet. Really, Lalique can do no wrong in my eyes. This is an instant yes for me. strong, sexy, spicy and absolutly unique!!! I have new bottle of this with horse head painted over the bottle. After a short while, the nutmeg recedes a bit (or perhaps my nose adapts to it) and blends with the other spices and violet leaf and strong dark woody notes to give a beautiful and long-lasting heart. I freakin' love it! Cashmere, benzoin and amyris round out the base, and the fragrance maintains it's sweetness, is still woody, with citrus and pine (that's the Amyris). Fragrantica Trends is a relative value that shows the interest of Fragrantica members in this fragrance over time. Sillage is good but it not last long only 4 hours. Also that it's a more affordable, everyday-wear sport version of Creed Royal Oud. Not unisex IMO. To my nose, the opening is dominated by a peppery note, and the citruses are hidden behind it. Horse urine ? It is a masculine feel-good aroma. Also, the sequoia note in this is very interesting; not to mention also very unique. The bottle is heavy and beautiful with the horse head etched deeply into the back of the glass. I adore Equus on a cold Autumn morning when the sillage mixes with the scent of the new day and the smell burning wood stoves wafting through the air. I'll update if I do change my mind, but as things stand, this could be a niche fragrance selling for a lot more money, IMO. The cedary sillage here is very shy but longevity is a long lived skin scent. It certainly didn't disappoint, it's similar to Hugo Boss BOSS Bottled, quite similar quite spicy and woody. There is no cedar listed in the pyramid but my nose definitely detects that vibe but the familiar redeeming note of cardamom is also here and it smooths Equus out along with faint citrus and lightly sweet juniper berries. Clean, brisk, wonderful, so unlike anything else I have. Amazing! It's gonna be my signature scent. Good one! I love this blend of juniper and cardamon, which reminds me of Hermes d'Voyage. At the most it stays woody with burned leathery nuance. Lalique once again creates a unique stand out fragrance. A beautiful, year-round scent evoking a certain rural sophistication and charm. Tobacco scent without tobacco note. But to me it smells like a refined version of Quorum Silver. Some say hamster cage or horse stall, but for that to be true, we would need a little civet or something dark, dank and sweaty; this fragrance doesn't have any of those qualities. Then comes great Base - with luxurious woody /leathery/soapy musk. It's targeted to younger men in compare to Lion EDP. 8.5/10 overall and 10/10 when I factor in the price. The reviewer below me mentioned Tonka Imperiale and Spiriteuse by Guerlain- this all just goes to show this is a very very high quality smelling fragrance. As other reviewers have pointed out this does smell like wood shavings, or pencil shavings and this is true; and in such a great masculine way! The sequoia note is very prominent and natural smelling. Wow! Very good, undeniably unique and pleasant scent (i can not resemble it to any other perfume or describe it /monkey500 did a great job on that/, you should try it, because it's FKN beautiful) but projection and longevity are a jokeit really is comical >:( !!! Everyone asking me what it is, this is remarkable smell for such a good price . The bootle is a glassware masterpiece. Its a comforting smell that has something to it that seems just slightly feminine to me. It's an amazing scent. It feels ferocious, contemplative, tenebrous, radiant, earthy, and pure by turns. In the best way. Maybe bright sunny fall day too? They are very similar, and I will wear and enjoy them both, but the newer version is just nicer to me. I got the chance finally to put my hand this beautiful scent, that I was running after since quiet long time. Unique, lalique's signature type of fragrance. It has medium projection and longevity, I would give 8/10 for this handsome perfume. I really enjoy it and I love Lalique Pour Homme EQUUS EDT. Not generic woods - the smells of nature. Then I went to their website and it's like the one I bought, the horse is stamped on the back and it looks cheap. I think "sequoia" is a reasonable description of this heart, though don't think sequoia or redwood trees yield any commercial oils and I hope that these rare and magnificent trees are not cut down for our vanity. Rays of sunlight that stream through the dense foliage, twinkling off drops of dew. An outstanding fragrancei love it more and more each time i use this one! Smells like powdery hay and hamster cage bedding shavings with a pinch of spice. After giving some more time on the EDP, i start liking it more! This smells very similar to Zwitsal, the baby oil that I used when I am still in kindergarden. Overall, a scent good for the fall and feels like it fits best outdoors. I can't ask for more! It's a touch less heavy and maybe a bit more modern. It's a bit more of a sharper woodiness. Equus is only my second blind buy, my first was Thierry Mugler Pure Havana which I love a lot therefore based on reviews on this forum I took a chance with Lalique. When this fragrance came out I bought a 100ml EDP, not even a 1/4 of bottle, I just gave it away :((. It is a soothing scent. Read about this perfume in other languages: Deutsch, Espaol, Franais, etina, Italiano, , Polski, Portugus, , , Nederlands, Srpski, Romn, , , , . Longevity is average to good. I am sure it wont be too long before it's discontinued. More sophisticated. a beautiful fragrance, I like but don't love. The art of bottle design is very wonderful. This one of my favorites from Lalique and if it is discontinued I need to start restocking on it. This horsey bottle comes with its own fresh hay scent. But what the designer has done here is knock that woodsiness down a couple of pegs and warm it up with just enough spice (nutmeg, mace, cardamom) and benzoin to round its edges nicely. That said, it really has grown on me a lot. I love the bitter smell of the woods mix well with Citrusy smell and also warm spicy with little sweetnest inside it. The gin like juniper appears lending a bit of a boozy note and then the pleasant spices of cardamon and nutmeg merge with some tart but smooth citrus. I look forward to wearing this again to see if my opinion has changed, because I generally find these strong wood fragrances to be too harsh. It is actually quite sweet and its longevity is 8hrs on my skin. Relaxing in front of a fireplace, sipping a cup of hot cocoaor tumbler of Scotch, and smelling fragrances like Lalique Equus. Terrific and unique smell, but sits very close to the skinVERY, VERY close in fact, before fading away after about three hours. The "cedar" retracts some but remains very evident but not overpowering. Overall it is great and I love it, but I would prefer a better longevity. And it leaves me headache free so the EDT gamble pays out. By all means get the engraved bottle EDT. The next day when the King makes his appearance at the polo match, or equestrian show, he wears Lalique Pour Homme Equus. Extremely solid masculine fragrance. Not for me. Beautiful, unique niche scent. This was certainly ahead of the curve for 2001. There's a bit of sweetness in it too to keep it a bit on the sexy side. I knew on the day it arrived that based on the notes it was a pure gamble all for a pretty pony in glass. no, no, noyou don t get it at all..equus is the best offer from lalique! i always loved this perfume never done me wrong not good in extreme heat tho, i love this smell it's one of a kind a good signature scent definitely i would recommend it for sure. LaLique Equuscan be worn for many situations and occasions, forma, work or even romance and could be a signature fragrance for the right man. I'm only sad I waited so long to try Lalique's Pour Homme Equus. The drydown is incredibly smooth and well balanced, every note seems to sit in the composition perfectly which creates a warm alluring scent. Good longevity and moderate sillage, which is perfect, as I don't want to be an advert sign saying 'hey, I'm wearing sth good'. This one smells very modern even though it is 20 years old! Slight tobacco note in the opening, dry down has a surprising coolness to it despite remaining in the cedar realm (although the note is likely the sequoia.) Smells classy, yet inoffensive for daily basis. I have the EDT and the EDP. When you walk through these giant ancient trees they are not only towering above you, but you walk over their roots and stir up the soil that is also composed of the bark. Equus is the best spicy woody fragrance I've tried. Take a well appointed Kentucky horse stable, 100 gerbil cages, and infuse their essence into Charles Bronson's 1970s wood paneled parlor. I managed to get a bottle with the engraved / etched horse and the reviews below have certainly been more accurate than expected. The pepper remains through dry down to skin scent with citrus as a minor player. It is very autumnal, wintery and outdoorsy, but it is understated so can also be quite formal. And that later it just smells like a really nice forest once the fruits wear off. It is great! I detected moderate to heavy pepper upon initial sprays that reminded me of Lalique White, though I don't recall pepper being a note listed for Equus. It opens up with like warm spicy then dry down is musky woody.
