Depending if your tap has 1/2" compression nut as this Wrench is suitable for back and union nuts on pillar and bath taps. Overall a good tool, fit for purpose. Impossible task without these little beauties. Total length is 155 mm (just over 6 inches). It doesn't fit?

I bought this as a Box Spanner that fitted a tap retaining nut, although it is a BackNut spanner. did the job I needed of replacing a kitchen tap. This is a fairly strong build with large teeth and could be handy for things such as radiators where you can easily use two hands, although a spanner or socket set would work better.

I rang Rothenberger and posed the question (but using their product codes of 90216 & 70225). Adjustable jaws allow for access to both the pipe union nut and the tap back nut with the same spanner. A basin wrench needs to be slightly sprung so that it clasps around the nut easily, this has no spring and worst of all the head is designed to be loose, so there is no way it will stay still whilst being maneuvered behind a sink or bath unless you can use both hands (and if you have enough space for that then you don't need this anyway)
